Thanks to its ancestral and craft know-how, the leather industry is one of the seven global professions of Morocco. It is thus positioned among the country’s leading sectors, and is able to benefit both from its international reputation to conquer international markets and increased demand of domestic market.

This position is proven by figures thanks to an investment of around 13.4 million dollars (~130 million dirhams) which allows the sector to achieve a turnover of 598 millions de dollars (~5.8 billion dirhams) and an estimated added value of 144 million dollars (~1.4 billion dirhams).

There are more than 260 industrial units in the leather sector insuring more than 40000 jobs in core professions linked to the production and processing of leather products, as well as innovation professions such as fashion design and modeling as well as marketing and R&D. 

This human potential combined with infrastructures in line with international standards, allow investors to benefit from the presence and expertise of highly qualified leather manufacturers to develop a wide range of products for both local and international markets.

The leather industry offers exceptional assets to invest in Morocco thanks to a high production capacity and high-quality raw materials.

  • Berrechid industrial park, with a capacity of hosting 180 companies on 61 ha

  • Souss-Massa Free Zone
The sector benefits from qualified human resources who graduated from renowned Moroccan and international universities and schools. Investors will enjoy the following advantages:
  • Dedicated schools including l’Institut Spécialisé des Métiers du Cuir, l’Académie des Arts Traditionnels (AAT), l’Institut Spécialisé en Tannerie et Traitement du Cuir, and le Centre de Formation et de Qualification des Métiers de l’Artisanat (CFQMA).
