CHEMICAL AND PARACHEMICAL INDUSTRY, SECOND EXPORTING SECTOR IN MOROCCO
Chemical and Para-chemical Industries is a strategic sector in the Moroccan economy thanks to the diversity of its products and its interdependence with other upstream and downstream industrial activities.
With a view to consolidating its position in the global market, Morocco is exploring two development paths for these industries by consolidating its stature as a leading phosphate exporter thanks to the Office Chérifien des Phosphates (OCP) on the one hand and, on the other, by strengthening its production of green and organic chemicals
Morocco is therefore the 1st world exporter of phosphates and the 2nd world producer of chemical derivatives. Exports of phosphates and its derivatives amount 51.9 billion Dirhams (~5.3 Billion US dollars) whereas exports of other industry products reach 34.9 billion Dirhams (~3.5 Billion US dollars).
